Atades to recognize social and communication initiatives linked to intellectual disabilities

Atades has launched a new call for entries to recognize projects that directly improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, borderline intellectual functioning and autism. The 18th edition of the Atades Awards is now accepting applications and will offer up to 5,000 euros in one category, while also honoring communication initiatives that help raise awareness of and normalize intellectual disability.

The awards will be presented during the second half of 2027 at the Aljafería Palace and will retain two categories. The first will honor projects or programs focused on improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities, while the second will recognize image or communication initiatives that have helped showcase their abilities, activities and reality to society.

A 5,000-EURO AWARD FOR PROJECTS THAT IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE

The category dedicated to improving quality of life carries a 5,000-euro prize for the winning project, which will also receive a commemorative sculpture by Aragonese artist Florencio de Pedro. Through this category, Atades aims to recognize initiatives capable of generating concrete advances in the well-being, autonomy and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

In the image and communication category, individuals, projects, experiences, companies, organizations, communication groups and media outlets that have worked to normalize intellectual disability may enter, provided their activities have been aimed at public opinion. The recognition will also consist of a sculpture by Florencio de Pedro.

In both categories, the jury may also grant special mentions, accompanied by a print by Aragonese painter Pepe Cerdá and a certificate. The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until December 21, and entries can be submitted online through the Atades website.

A JURY WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE SOCIAL, INSTITUTIONAL AND ECONOMIC SPHERES

The entries will be evaluated by a jury made up of prominent Aragonese figures from the institutional, social and economic spheres, representatives of Fundación hiberus and members of the Atades Governing Board. The evaluation criteria include the rigor, originality, initiative and effectiveness of the projects, as well as their ability to collaborate with other institutions.

The call also retains its international dimension through the Conecta América Atades-Fundación hiberus Awards, which recognize projects, organizations and professionals working to promote the inclusion and improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities in countries across the Americas. This collaboration also incorporates technology as a tool for generating social impact and new opportunities.
