This initiative was launched because the neighborhood currently has 12,000 residents and is expected to reach more than 70,000, yet it still has no market. "We want Aragón to be present on the tables of Arcosur, and for every euro spent by a resident to reach the person who produced the product in full," explains the Arcosur 360 board. The aim is also for every Arcosur family to be able to fill its pantry with products from Aragón, purchased directly from their producers at a fair price for both sides: more and more products, producers from all 33 comarcas and zero commissions. "If it works in Arcosur, it can work in any neighborhood," the board says.
The system is very simple: first, residents join Arcosur 360, which is free; members can then place orders through their member area, including from their mobile phones, and pay the producer directly, who delivers to their homes or to a collection point. For producers, signing up is free, with no commissions, fees or exclusivity agreements.
PRODUCTS FROM 28 COMARCAS
The marketplace offers top-quality products from 28 comarcas in Aragón. Extra virgin olive oil from Alloza, winner of three international gold awards in 2026, as well as oil from Moncayo, Somontano, Monegros, Cinco Villas, Letux and La Almunia; honey from Ambel, Sierra de Luna, Ojos Negros and Asín; fruit from Binaced; asparagus from Novillas; almonds from Las Pedrosas and pistachios from Laluenga; pasture-raised beef from Aranda de Moncayo; eggs from Munébrega; potatoes and vegetables from Torres de Albarracín; migas, breadcrumbs and pasta from Monegros; sweets from Jaca and Oliete; jam from Sediles; licorice root from Pina de Ebro; and wines from the wineries of Cariñena, Molinos and Cretas.
And this is a real marketplace: the producer sets the price and receives the full amount, while residents know whom they are buying from and which village the product comes from. On average, a product that farmers sell for 1 euro is sold for 4.26 euros in stores (COAG's IPOD, September 2026); at La Despensa, the producer sets the price and receives the full amount. Behind every product there is a village: three out of every four municipalities in Aragón have fewer than 500 inhabitants. "Arcosur is growing while many villages are emptying out: La Despensa builds a bridge," the association concludes.
