This is the case for Izabela, who is starting her fourth and final year of Hispanic Philology with “a desire to finish” her degree. Although she views the start of classes positively and is “happy”, she considers them “longer” than she expected. Yaiza, who is studying the same subject, is beginning her third year with “a desire to get back into a routine”. “In your third year, you start taking electives and tailor your degree to what you like; it’s no longer so general, and I have good feelings about it so far,” she says.
Sergio, a History student, is facing the start of the academic year calmly and looking forward to enjoying these first few weeks. “So far, pretty chill,” he admits, although he knows that feeling will change as the first exams approach. “Right now you’re enjoying yourself and it feels like you’re still partly on holiday, but then December comes and you remember that the exams are there,” he jokes.
Mario is also studying History and has started the academic year with positive feelings. He explains that these first few days are useful for getting to know the professors, the subjects and the pace the year will take. “Everything looks very good,” he says, although he admits that it will be over the coming weeks that they will really see how the academic year progresses. For now, he views “settling back in after the summer” positively and is happy to begin a new academic stage.
