The award-winning coverage mobilized nearly 200 professionals, with three simultaneous studios, more than 20 live broadcast locations, 15 studio cameras, another 15 ENG cameras and a major technological boost that included, among other innovations, Aragón TV’s first remote production experience, as well as augmented reality, an outdoor drone and new graphic resources for tracking the vote count.
The February 8 election night was also a resounding audience success. The results special achieved a 33.5% audience share, while the exclusive poll conducted by GAD3 reached 29.8% and the subsequent analysis 30.7%. Overall, the special led its time slot with an average 30.1% share during more than four hours of broadcasting, on a day when Aragón TV ended with a 20.1% share, becoming the television channel with the highest audience share in Spain.
The special February 8 operation culminated an extensive election coverage campaign developed by Aragón TV from the start of the campaign, with 12 hours of special news programming, including the return of Cara a cara, the Debate a ocho, individual interviews with the candidates and the election night special.
REACTIONS TO THE AWARD
CARTV Director General Raquel Fuertes highlighted that the recognition “rewards deeply collective work that is essential to offering different perspectives, preserving our accents, telling our culture’s story, protecting our identity and giving a voice to those who do not find one elsewhere.” Fuertes defended the work of local media as “a mirror in which a territory recognizes itself and the voice that prevents its stories from being lost in the noise of the world.”
For her part, Aragón TV news presenter Noemí Núñez said that “being on the other side of the TV every day to tell the people of Aragón what is happening in their town, their neighborhood and their community is a privilege, and knowing that so many people follow us every day reinforces the work done by everyone who works on this news program.” Núñez added that “this award is not an award for Aragón TV; it is an award for the loyalty of viewers, those who followed the elections with us on February 8 and those who trust our work every day.”
Alongside Aragón TV’s election coverage, the 2026 FesTVal-FORTA Awards also recognized two other programs from regional television broadcasters: ‘Ailoviu’, from Radiotelevisión de la Región de Murcia, which has established itself as a benchmark for entertainment and local programming on La 7’s afternoon schedule, and ‘La Cuina de Morera’, from À Punt, for its work promoting Mediterranean cuisine and healthy lifestyles alongside chef Jordi Morera and nutritionist Ana Sirvent.
