Once these 20 personnel have joined, the agreement provides for the staffing to be completed at a rate of six new members per year, in addition to filling vacancies arising from retirement or other regulatory reasons. The arrival of these personnel will expand the unit’s response capacity and strengthen the services it provides in Aragon within the scope of its assigned responsibilities.
The National Police Unit attached to Aragon performs essential public security support functions in the region. Its main duties include monitoring buildings and facilities belonging to the Government of Aragon, protecting public figures, inspecting and overseeing gambling and public events, supervising leisure activities, coordinating with private security services, and inspecting traditional festivities.
STRENGTHENING SECURITY
The increase in personnel will also strengthen services related to areas such as safe tourism, snow safety and environmental protection, as well as operations involving gambling and public events. It will also help bolster assistance and protection for minors, older people and particularly vulnerable groups, improving the capacity to respond to situations requiring special protection.
The arrival of the new officers will therefore provide fresh impetus to Aragon’s Attached Police Unit, which will have more resources to carry out its duties and deliver a more effective service that is closer to the public.
