Aragón’s regional government is urging people to take extreme precautions in this situation and is reminding residents of the restrictions that come into force in areas under Red Alert Level.
LIGHTING FIRES AND USING PYROTECHNIC MATERIALS IS PROHIBITED
Lighting fires in open spaces is prohibited. Any existing authorization for the use of fire, burning and cultural or recreational activities is temporarily suspended. This includes lighting fires in recreational areas, rest areas on the road network and camping areas, including designated sites, as well as bringing or using pyrotechnic materials in forest environments. Throwing or abandoning burning objects is also prohibited.
Authorizations for sporting events and public activities held in forest environments are suspended, provided that the authorization decision did not expressly establish the specific conditions for holding them at this alert level.
RESTRICTIONS ON MACHINERY IN FOREST AREAS
In forests and areas located within 400 meters of them, the use of equipment and machinery that could cause deflagration, sparks or electrical discharges is prohibited. The following exceptions apply exclusively at this alert level:
• The use of smokers in beekeeping, outside the time period between 12:00 and 18:00, under the conditions established in Order AGM/681/2023.
• Cereal harvesting and baling. If these activities take place less than 400 meters from a continuous forested, wooded and shrub-covered area larger than 100 hectares, they must be carried out outside the period between 14:00 and 18:00. The necessary precautionary measures must be adopted and, in all cases, rapid access to at least one team equipped with a water pump with a minimum capacity of 1,000 liters, or a tractor fitted with a harrow or similar agricultural implement, must be guaranteed so that a fire can be tackled if one breaks out.
• The use of agricultural machinery to mow or collect green forage crops, as well as other routine agricultural maintenance work not covered in the previous section.
• Urgent repair work to restore essential services under the conditions established in Order AGM/681/2023.
