The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a special warning for very heavy and persistent showers in the eastern third of the Iberian Peninsula. The episode will begin this Thursday and, according to forecasts, could last at least until Monday, October 5. Aemet said rainfall could be locally very heavy in parts of Castellón, Valencia, the northern coast of Alicante and southern Tarragona, as well as nearby areas of Lleida, Teruel and Cuenca.

In Aragon, the weather warnings scheduled for this Thursday from 2 p.m. include an orange rain warning in Albarracín and Jiloca, in Teruel. There will also be a yellow rain warning in Huesca province, Gúdar and Maestrazgo, Bajo Aragón and Ribera del Ebro, in Zaragoza. In addition, a yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for the provinces of Huesca and Teruel and for Ribera del Ebro. According to Aemet, these phenomena may be accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts.

EMERGENCY MONITORING AND COORDINATION

Activating Procifemar at the alert level will strengthen monitoring of weather developments, improve coordination between administrations and emergency services, and ensure a rapid and effective response to possible incidents resulting from the forecast phenomena.

The Aragon 112 Emergency Center is informing the counties and the organizations involved so they can adopt any preventive measures they consider appropriate. In parallel, the Government of Aragon and the emergency service will share warnings and self-protection recommendations through their official channels and social media, along with updates on the episode and any incidents that may occur.
