A Segunda RFEF side will be Real Zaragoza's opponent in the first round of the new Copa del Rey campaign. As with S.D. Huesca, the geographical criteria established by the Royal Spanish Football Federation mean the Blanquillos will definitely face a fourth-tier team in the draw, scheduled for Monday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m.

According to the competition regulations for the cup tournament, the pairings will be determined by a draw, grouping teams according to geographical proximity and seeking to ensure that lower-division clubs face teams from higher divisions. To this end, the 112 participating teams entering this round have been distributed among four different pots.

Therefore, taking into account the rules and the pairing system, Real Zaragoza, which has been placed in Group 2 for the draw, could face any of the Segunda Federación teams placed in the same pot as the Aragonese side. Utebo F.C., C.D. Tudelano, S.D. Amorebieta, Reus F.C. Reddis, Club Portugalete, C.E. Manresa, Peña Sport F.C. and C.F. Calamocha are the possible opponents for Ibai Gómez's side in a cup tournament that the Blanquillos have won on as many as six occasions.

AWAY FROM HOME

In addition, Real Zaragoza will have to travel to the ground of the opponent they face in a tie that will be played on October 27, 28 or 29. All matches will be held at the facilities of the lower-division club, provided they meet the minimum requirements established by the RFEF. If both teams belong to the same division, the club whose ball is drawn first will play at home.

The first round will consist of 56 matches, with the winners earning a place in the second round of the knockout competition. The four teams taking part in the Spanish Super Cup, which will enter the competition in the round of 32, are excluded from this first round, where Real Zaragoza will seek to advance in the cup tournament.
