Real Zaragoza wary of the pitch conditions at Can Dragó

“The pitch may not be in great condition and could affect us a little,” Real Zaragoza coach Ibai Gómez said ahead of the match against Europa. He was referring to the Can Dragó playing surface, where the Blanquillos must beat the Catalan side. The club is concerned about the issue and acknowledges the importance of returning to winning ways after two setbacks.

This is an issue that must be added to another: Ibai Gómez did not want to make excuses. “It is something we have taken into account since we arrived. In this division, some pitches will be worse than others. When the schedule was released, we considered this group better in terms of the stadiums and pitches,” the Real Zaragoza coach acknowledged.

He is clear that the other group would have been worse, and that in Group II of Primera RFEF there are fewer stadiums in poor condition. “We have to approach it naturally and be better than the opposition on those pitches,” he said ahead of Real Zaragoza’s visit to Europa.

THE KEY

For the coach, victory will depend, among other things, on not allowing former Real Zaragoza player Gori Gracia and attacker Flavio to have possession. He expects Europa to start by pressing before dropping deeper, where they feel more comfortable.

He also highlighted other aspects of his opponents. “They are good from set pieces. They have centre-backs who are strong in the air, and it is going to be more difficult,” the Real Zaragoza coach stated.
