The pairings will be made according to geographical proximity and, whenever possible, will pit lower-division clubs against the highest-ranked teams to have progressed from the previous round. To this end, the participants will be distributed into as many pots as competitive levels remain represented in the tournament. The tie will be played on October 27, 28 or 29.
Real Zaragoza will therefore be at home if it faces teams from LaLiga or Segunda División and away if it takes on a Segunda RFEF side. If it is drawn against a team from the same division, everything will depend on the order in which the ball is drawn.
Of the 116 clubs taking part in the competition, 112 will enter at this stage, while the four teams competing in the Spanish Super Cup —FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad, Real Madrid CF and Atlético de Madrid— will begin their tournament campaigns in the round of 32.
