Real Zaragoza: Overwhelming Theoretical Advantage Must Count at Can Dragó

Real Zaragoza’s superiority over Europa on paper will never be more overwhelming in Primera RFEF. Can Dragó hosts a clash between the category’s most expensive squad, excluding reserve teams, and its least costly one. The Aragonese side’s squad is valued at 9.45 million euros, compared with Europa’s 2.2 million.
Real Zaragoza: Overwhelming Theoretical Advantage Must Count at Can Dragó

Real Zaragoza have two players valued at more than one million euros. Pau Sans (1.5 million) and Saidu (1 million) are worth more than the entire Europa squad combined. In addition, several footballers have a high market value, including Rubén Iranzo and Diego González, both valued at 600,000 euros.

That is a far cry from what Europa have in their ranks. Their most valuable player is Teto, who played in the Segunda División with Tenerife. The midfielder has a market value of 450,000 euros, leaving him well short of Real Zaragoza’s top-valued players.

Behind him comes 29-year-old Marcel Sgró, with a value of 250,000 euros. At Real Zaragoza, that is the price placed on Rubén Díez ‘Jamelli’, although his valuation is clearly influenced by his age. It is worth remembering that he is already 33.

MAKE IT COUNT ON THE PITCH

Real Zaragoza now have an obligation: to demonstrate their superiority on the pitch and turn it into points. It is essential for the Blanquillos to claim three points after two consecutive draws and having temporarily lost top spot in the table. That position also brings automatic promotion at the end of the season, the clear objective for the Aragonese side.

It is here, at Can Dragó, that they must win. Questions have arisen over the condition of the pitch after photos of the playing surface circulated among social media users. However, that is no excuse. Real Zaragoza urgently need to return to winning ways, this Friday itself, so they can at least sleep at the top of the table.
