In terms of the standings, Villarreal B lead the table with 20 points. Real Zaragoza have the same total and sit second, but with an inferior goal difference. While the Castellon side have a goal difference of plus 11, the Aragonese team have plus seven.
There is now a gap to the team in third. Real Zaragoza and Villarreal B have four more points than Real Jaen. The same applies to fourth-placed Real Murcia, who also have 16 points, level with the Andalusians.
ADVANTAGE OVER THE CHASERS
That means the advantage over the chasing pack is beginning to grow. Cartagena are fifth, occupying the final playoff spot for promotion to Segunda Division, with 15 points. They are one ahead of Alcorcon, the first team outside the positions that provide a chance to fight for a place in professional football. In other words, Real Zaragoza have six more points than the first team outside contention in this battle.
Slip-ups come at a higher cost near the top of the table, but Real Zaragoza are already building a relatively significant cushion over the teams behind them. That said, this weekend is set to be an important one for the Aragonese side.
