In practice, the call-up means the midfielder would miss Real Zaragoza's matches against Ibiza (September 25) and Teruel (October 4), and could also miss the game against Atlético Madrileño (October 11). For now, however, he is still developing before making his official first-team debut.
He has been training normally under Ibai Gómez since this summer. His performances have not gone unnoticed by the Ecuadorian national team, which has included him in its U-20 squad. He will therefore join the squad during the next FIFA international window.
DIEGO MONZÓN
Monzón, who renewed his contract with the blue-and-white club last season, belongs to Deportivo Aragón but has already featured for the first team during preseason. He is a talented midfielder whom Real Zaragoza have placed their faith in.
The player has represented Ecuador at youth level and will now have a new opportunity to represent his country thanks to this U-20 call-up. The camp, which will include two friendly matches against Peru, will take place from September 27 to October 6, 2026, in Quito.
