Real Zaragoza are therefore the sole leaders of Group II of the third tier. With 15 points to their name, they have two more than Villarreal B, who have 13. Real Murcia and Alcorcón both have 12 points, while Real Jaén have 11.
As a result, Real Zaragoza have five more points than sixth-placed Hércules de Alicante, who are now outside the promotion places. They are guaranteed at least one more round in the upper reaches of the table, although the objective, naturally, is to earn promotion as leaders. The good news is that they are already in the position where they must finish after Matchday 38.
THE ROADMAP
Real Zaragoza must now visit Atlético de Madrid's reserve side in Alcalá de Henares. The match will be played on the eve of Pilar Day, Sunday, October 11, at 9:00 p.m. The Blanquillos could therefore extend their lead over their immediate challengers.
Two more away fixtures follow. Real Zaragoza will visit Real Murcia, before doing the same against Europa. They will then face Villarreal B.
This October will have a major influence on Real Zaragoza's season. Head-to-head goal differences and points gained in direct encounters will come into play… A crucial period is therefore beginning for the Blanquillos.
