The Valencian referee has officiated a total of 53 matches in Spain's third tier, recording 26 home wins, 11 away victories and 16 draws. He already knows what it is like to referee at Europa's ground, having taken charge of their matches on four occasions. His most recent game was at Can Dragó, in the clash between Sant Andreu and Antequera.

With him in charge, Europa have won twice, drawn once and lost once. The Barcelona side therefore knows Ortega Herrera's refereeing style perfectly well. This season, he has officiated two matches in which the away team has not won: one in Tarragona and the other in the aforementioned fixture.

Ortega Herrera has a tendency to show yellow cards, with an average of five per match this season. He has also shown one red card, despite having officiated only twice.
