PP and Vox Reject a Minute of Silence for Maricarmen in the Aragon Parliament

PP and Vox rejected a minute of silence for Maricarmen during Thursday’s plenary session in the Aragon Parliament, as proposed by the PSOE. The 87-year-old woman died at Madrid’s Gregorio Marañón Hospital on Wednesday night. Her eviction sparked the wider housing mobilization that has led to a general election being called and a general strike.

The PSOE proposal sought to serve as a “gesture of respect and humanity” following Maricarmen’s death, describing her as “a symbol of the housing problem.” The proposal was brought before the Board of Spokespersons, delaying the session by around 15 minutes. The same minute of silence was also rejected during Thursday’s plenary session of the Madrid Assembly.
