The delegate took part this morning in a minute of silence for Wednesday’s sexist assault in the bullring during the Vaquillas celebrations. Asked about reports identifying him as the lead candidate, he did not deny that “his name has been mentioned,” although he stressed that he still has to be ratified by two party bodies.
It is worth recalling that Beltrán recently also put himself forward as the Socialist Party’s candidate for Zaragoza City Council. Following these statements, he said on Thursday that he had told his secretary general, Pilar Alegría, that he was “at the party’s disposal” for any electoral process and confirmed that his political future “seems to be leaning more toward Congress.”
The remaining names will be announced this afternoon, when the PSOE’s Provincial Executive sends its proposal to the Federal Executive for ratification. In the previous national elections, held on July 23, 2023, the Socialist candidate list for Congress in Zaragoza was headed by Pilar Alegría.
