Fernando Beltrán backs early election: “It is a thoroughly considered decision”

The Government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, has welcomed the early election announced by Pedro Sánchez on Monday and defended the call as “part of democratic normality.” In his view, the election will allow voters to “renew majorities” and reassess the support enjoyed by each political force.
Fernando Beltrán backs early election: “It is a thoroughly considered decision”

Beltrán said the decision had been thoroughly considered and noted that the vote would allow citizens to decide what kind of economic and social model they want. In this regard, he contrasted a model focused on growth and protecting vulnerable people with another based, in his words, on “speculation” and “vulture funds.”

BELTRÁN WELCOMES THE ELECTIONS

“Welcome to the elections,” the Government delegate said, defending the call as an opportunity for Spaniards to have their say at the ballot box once again. He also defended maintaining a “social safety net” for those who need it most. Asked whether he sees himself as a possible candidate for Zaragoza mayor or as the PSOE’s lead candidate for Congress, Beltrán declined to comment on his political future. “Today I am thinking about organizing a complex electoral process in record time,” he replied.

The delegate recalled that much of the organization of the election falls to the Government Delegation and cited tasks ranging from printing the ballots to preparing the services needed for election day. “A little further down the line, I’ll have time to think about other things,” he concluded.
