Regarding Chunta’s offer to join the Frente Amplio, Aragón Existe general coordinator Valerio Aguayos ruled it out: “We do not want to deceive ourselves with experiments we have already experienced. We have no masters in Madrid or Barcelona.”

DEFENDING ARAGON’S INTERESTS

“We could create a ticket capable of representing us in Parliament and influencing Spain’s next government, not for the benefit of the parties, but to defend Aragón’s interests and address the historic debt that the rest of the country owes our community,” he said.

To that end, they have contacted the three aforementioned parties, mayors and former mayors of the Partido Aragonés “who feel betrayed,” as well as several local and county-level movements. “We have until Friday the 16th to submit the coalitions, so there is still time,” Aguayos explained. He recalled that, if this alliance does not go ahead, they already stood in the regional elections as the Existe Coalition.

Aragón Existe’s coordinator ruled out the Frente Amplio formula, calling it a “state-level imposition.” In this regard, he recalled that Sumar, the same coalition through which Jorge Pueyo was elected, has a government minister, Ernest Urtasun, who does not support the return of the Sijena artworks to the monastery.

Aragonese parties are making their moves one week before the deadline to finalize the ticket. The Aragonese left is “working toward” a single ballot and is holding talks. The PAR executive approved on Thursday its support for the PP, although it is not yet known whether members of the party will join its lists. Meanwhile, the Existe Coalition is seeking to bring together all Aragonese forces: CHA, Tu Aragón and Aragoneses.
