Chunta seeks to lead a single Aragón slate with IU, Sumar, Podemos and Teruel Existe

Chunta Aragonesista hopes the November 29 general election will feature a single left-wing slate in Aragón, led by the party and including IU, Sumar, Podemos and even Teruel Existe, which has never identified itself as left-wing.

It was announced in statements made in Zaragoza by Chunta's spokesperson in the Aragonese Parliament and, until the latest regional election campaign, a member of Congress in Sumar's parliamentary group, Jorge Pueyo, who said that "calling elections was essential because the legislature could go no further".

After the prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced the early election, Pueyo said Chunta would "build a single ballot in Aragón" because it wants "the broadest possible single slate", even if there may be several slates elsewhere in Spain.

THE "BROADEST POSSIBLE" SLATE

He listed Podemos, Izquierda Unida, Aragón Existe, Movimiento Sumar, the Green Party and Recortes Cero one by one as potential members of "the broadest possible single slate, answerable only to the people of Aragón", which would also include Aragonese trade unions and social movements.

He therefore promised to hold bilateral meetings with all those parties, followed by a joint meeting with all of them. However, he did not confirm, because he lacked information, whether Chunta would attend the October 17 event at which the Broad Front of IU, Movimiento Sumar, the Comunes and Más Madrid will be formally presented.

CHA WANTS TO LEAD THE LIST IN ARAGÓN

Pueyo explained that he believed the potential single slate should be "led by Chunta Aragonesista", but acknowledged that "this is a moment to be generous so that it can happen". In terms of electoral prospects, he said the list could win Zaragoza's seventh and final seat, which it would contest with Vox.
