CHA Holds Militancy Festival in Zaragoza as 2027 Elections Loom

More than 150 Chunta Aragonesista members gathered this Sunday at Zaragoza’s Ebro Sports Park for the 11th CHA-Zaragoza Militancy Festival. The event was attended by the party’s president and spokesperson in the Aragonese Parliament, Jorge Pueyo, and CHA-Zaragoza president Chuaquín Bernal, along with representatives and members from various municipalities in the Central Comarca.

The gathering combined a political event with social activities, including an aperitif, a meal and a concert. During the day, the CHA-Zaragoza Militancy Award was also presented to the men and women of the Ligallo de Lugar of Villamayor de Gállego, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of its proclamation as a municipality.

Pueyo used the occasion to highlight the role of party members and argue that, in his view, the party is going through a period that allows it to approach upcoming elections with renewed expectations. The CHA president said that his party’s current goal is to broaden its political space ahead of the 2027 municipal elections.

BROADENING ITS POLITICAL SPACE AHEAD OF 2027

"We want the broadest possible candidacy, above party interests," Pueyo said, explaining that CHA has begun a round of talks to explore that formula. The party says it aims to prevent the fragmentation of the progressive and Aragonese vote and seek a joint candidacy for the upcoming municipal elections.

The CHA leader linked this strategy to the political situation at Zaragoza City Council and specifically pointed to the municipal government led by Natalia Chueca. "We are not satisfied with the good results the polls give us for Zaragoza City Council. We want to take another step and lead the alternative to end the policies of the PP and Vox," he said. CHA began the primary process this week to select its candidates for the 2027 municipal elections and also confirmed its intention to maintain contacts with other parties and groups to form a broad candidacy.

Pueyo also recalled the results of the regional elections held on February 8, 2026. In his speech, the CHA president argued that the party must take advantage of that situation to continue working in municipalities and thanked its members for bringing its proposals to Zaragoza and the whole of Aragon.
