Pueyo explained that the decision was made in a context of “extreme polarization” and seeks to avoid vote splitting in order to facilitate a progressive majority in both chambers. “With this decision, Chunta Aragonesista has listened to the many requests it has received to act with generosity and responsibility, rather than out of partisan interest, with the aim of avoiding vote splitting and doing everything possible to achieve a progressive majority, both in Congress and in the Senate,” he said.
In the last general election, held in 2023, the People’s Party won two seats in the province and the PSOE won one. The third seat in this constituency has always changed hands frequently. Ciudadanos won it in April 2019, but in the subsequent election it was taken by Teruel Existe, which won 26.66% of the vote and made history by coming first in the province. Now, ahead of November 29, some polls suggest Vox could take the seat.

Jorge Pueyo also announced that an extraordinary National Committee meeting, the party’s highest body between assemblies, will be held this Friday. The meeting will select the person who will head the CHA-Frente Amplio Aragón list for Congress in the Zaragoza constituency, as well as the party’s other representatives on the various candidate lists for the general election.
