Although the team remains in the relegation zone and has yet to earn a point after four matchdays, this game could prove to be a turning point. Jorge Palos' side showed they can compete with anyone, and if they continue playing this way, they can recover from a start that offered little hope of securing survival.
It remains to be seen whether this was a one-day reaction or whether Wanapix can go toe to toe with their rivals in the elite of Spanish futsal.
THE MATCH
The match began at a fast pace, with Wanapix determined to challenge ElPozo for the initiative. However, it was the Murcia side who struck first, adding a second blow minutes later to make it 0-2.
Adrián Ortego pulled one back in the 26' minute, completely changing the outlook, and Kike Liao, returning after missing three matches through injury, made it 2-2 in the 33rd minute. The equalizer fully unleashed Wanapix and a crowd watching its team put the reigning Super Cup champions under pressure.
Four minutes later, the reward arrived. Célio Coque appeared in the 37' minute to score the 3-2 and complete the comeback. ElPozo responded almost immediately. Tomaz equalized in the 38' minute, taking the match back to where it started. With just 14 seconds remaining, Santa Cruz made it 3-4. A hammer blow for Wanapix, who had done so much to take something positive from the game.
