Águilas, a team from the province of Murcia, dominated Huesca for long periods. Once again, the problem was clear: the Huesca side have enough attacking ability to rank among the best teams in Group II of Primera RFEF, but their defense is not coming together. Huesca avoided defeat thanks to Gazzaniga’s good performances and Águilas’ missed chances, not because they were consistent in their own area.
This issue must be fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise, moving into the upper part of the table will be completely impossible, as shown by the 10 points collected from seven matches.
THE MATCH
The first half was already summed up by the dangerous attack and the defense that was springing leaks. This was a serious problem, because every move became a headache at the back. Huesca suffered with every attacking run and, on this occasion, especially against Serpeta, Sánchez and Terranova’s Águilas.
There were no clear chances for Huesca. Luismi had one just before the half-hour mark, but he lacked accuracy after finding himself one-on-one with an open goal following a poor exit by Salcedo. He was at a very tight angle and scoring was difficult, despite the apparent ease created by the opposing goal being unprotected.
As we said, Huesca were suffering badly at the back. Águilas made that clear on two occasions, getting two shots away from the penalty spot—one with his head and another with his foot—to put the Huesca side under serious pressure. But Gonzalo missed and spared Jardiel’s team, keeping the score unchanged from the start of the match.

Just when they were suffering most, the goal arrived. It came from Kembo, after a well-worked set piece involving Sielva and Luismi from a corner. Sielva delivered a good ball, which Kembo headed into the net in the 43rd minute, when everyone was already thinking about halftime, to make it 0-1.
After the first of the two added minutes had passed, Huesca were looking forward to victory and only had to withstand one final attack. However, they were left stunned by a ten-minute stoppage for medical attention in the stands. Then, after a second corner, in another set-piece move, with the clock showing 56 minutes, Serpeta sent in a dangerous cross and Serrano made it 1-1.
The blow for Huesca was devastating. That does not mean the result was unfair, but it was a setback that was difficult to recover from. They had to do so in the second half.
SECOND HALF
The substitutions enlivened the match, and one player stood out in the second half: Douglas. The S.D. Huesca attacker changed the game and, in the 65th minute, started the move that put his team ahead. He was the one who laid the ball off to Mario, who then delivered a cutback for Cristian Herrera to score and make it 1-2.
It seemed Huesca had the match under control, but the problems at the back returned. Mario Abenza got a second consecutive shot away inside the area after Gazzaniga’s initial save, and this time it went in to make it 2-2, the final score. With the match entering its final minute and nothing left to be done, Huesca’s lack of defensive solidity condemned them once again.
That was how the match ended, and once again it was demonstrated that it will not be possible. They are conceding too many goals to move into the upper part of the table. Clearly, Huesca are not working.
