Teruel City Council to Increase Pamesa Funding to 150,000 Euros

Teruel City Council will increase its annual grant to Pamesa Teruel Volleyball from 130,000 to 150,000 euros in 2027. Mayor Emma Buj made the announcement during the presentation of the club’s new season and the “11 Matches, 11 Causes” charity campaign, an initiative that will highlight the work of associations, foundations and social organizations during each of the 11 regular-season matches the team will play at home.

Buj highlighted the club’s commitment to the city and its involvement in social causes. “If there is one thing Teruel is known for, it is precisely being an extremely supportive city,” the mayor said. She also praised the work of the many associations and organizations that rely on volunteers and contribute both financial resources and something as valuable as their time.

The increase in the municipal grant will mean an additional 20,000 euros in 2027, representing an approximate 15% increase compared with the 2026 contribution. Buj explained that the decision forms part of the planning for the next municipal budget and also reflects the effort made by the club’s members, whose fees have risen by 15%. The mayor stressed that the growth in municipal support must be compatible with the City Council’s financial capacity and the process of putting its accounts on a sound footing.

THE MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN

Pamesa president Sergio Puerto added that the membership campaign is progressing positively and that the club is maintaining its three-year growth plan, with the aim of increasing both its budget and its membership base.

The president also recalled that the sporting project includes the first team, the Primera Nacional side, the women’s senior team, the women’s junior team, two youth teams and other teams linked to the club and to schools in the city. He also announced that the youth teams will be presented during the first home match and that new activities will be organized with primary and secondary schools to bring volleyball closer to younger people.
