A Segunda División side will visit C.D. Cuarte in Copa del Rey first round

As happens every year, the start of a new Copa del Rey campaign will produce stories to remember. One of them will take place at the Juan Guerrero 'El Lobo' Stadium in Cuarte de Huerva, Zaragoza. After earning a place in the knockout tournament thanks to last season's performance, the Cuarte-based team will host none other than a Segunda División side.

With the cup competition rules in mind, Cuarte, which was placed in Group 2 for the draw, could face any of the second-tier teams assigned to the same pot as the Zaragoza side. Girona F.C., S.D. Eibar, F.C. Andorra and C.E. Sabadell are the possible opponents for a Cuarte team that, two editions ago, hosted Racing de Ferrol in a match where it scored its first goal in the competition.

Now, after hosting a Galician side that was playing in Segunda División that season, Cuarte, which narrowly missed out on promotion to Segunda RFEF this year, will add another memorable milestone to its history by hosting a team from the second tier once again. The tie will be played on October 27, 28 or 29.

THE DRAW, ON MONDAY

The specific opponent will therefore be decided next Monday, October 5, at 1:00 p.m. The draw will bring together the 112 teams taking part in this round, while the four Super Cup teams—Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad—will remain out of the pairings.
