Last season, Galicia brought an agonizing campaign to an end in the most unexpected and unimaginable way. At the Pazo dos Deportes in Lugo, after a highly inconsistent season, Casademont entered the final moments of the last league match needing a miracle to remain in the division—and found one when everything seemed lost. A combination of details, circumstances and plays led the Aragonese side to one final possession that changed everything.
Marco Spissu, with a three-pointer as the clock was practically winding down, delivered a buzzer-beating basket that sparked an extraordinary celebration on the court and allowed Casademont to seal a survival that had seemed almost impossible just minutes earlier. That three-pointer transcended the club's borders, and from that moment on, Galicia was forever linked to one of the most agonizing and extraordinary finishes the red-and-black team has experienced in its history.

A NEW DAWN
Now, Casademont returns to Galicia with a team that has very little in common with the side that secured that agonizing survival. After the red-and-black club's close call, the summer brought a major overhaul of the roster, with numerous departures and new pieces added to build a different project around Gonzalo García de Vitoria. And the opening rounds have created a very different feeling from last season: a hungry team with more resources and a much greater ability to find answers through different players.
The clearest evidence came on the opening day, when Casademont managed to begin the season with a highly valuable victory away to Lenovo Tenerife. A week later, at the Príncipe Felipe, the red-and-black side once again competed on equal terms with Valencia Basket, who had to work until the end to win the game. Beyond the results, the two matches have shown that there are grounds for approaching the season with ambition and believing it can become a different campaign.
Against this backdrop, the Aragonese side returns to Galicia this weekend for the third round of the current season. It will not be in Lugo this time, but Casademont will face Leyma Coruña with the aim of adding another victory to its record against the newly promoted side from A Coruña, which lost its opening game in Barcelona (119-101) and won its latest home match against Bilbao Basket (104-101).
