The red-and-white side's roadmap in Europe's top club competition will be as follows: on October 14, it will make its debut against Basket Landes at the Príncipe Felipe; on the 21st of the same month, it will travel to Greece to face Athinaikos, a team it already met twice in the preseason—both games ended in victories for Cantero's side—and on the 28th of the same month, it will host the Lithuanian team.
During the first return fixtures of this opening phase, Casademont Zaragoza will travel to France on November 3 to face Basket Landes at a venue where it already won last season. Much later, following the international break, the Aragonese club will host Greek side Athinaikos in the Aragonese capital on November 25. It will finish the first phase by visiting Kibirkstis Vilnius on December 2.
LITHUANIA'S DOMINANT FORCE
The Lithuanian team is the dominant force in its country, having won 11 national league titles, and it has also won the Baltic League several times, a competition featuring teams from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. It has not been as powerful in Europe, but between 2004 and 2006 it reached the semifinals of Europe's top club competition.
It is also the reigning Baltic competition champion and comfortably defeated AZS Poznan 91-69 in the first knockout round. However, of Casademont Zaragoza's three opponents, it is possibly the weakest.
