"We already know in advance that this year, given the situation in women's basketball, the players, staff and club will have to deal with whatever comes our way in that regard: whether it is injuries, other leagues, other contracts or periods when a player may not be performing and needs to do so," explained the Madrid-born coach, who also pointed out that "when a player joins a club for a much better financial offer," it is an "accepted" and understandable move.
Even so, Cantero has not hidden the fact that these departures could have a major impact on the team's sporting performance: "All these factors make it more difficult to build a team. So, as always, a player gets injured, another one comes in, and you have to spend time adapting that new player and teaching her the systems. All of that puts obstacles in the way of a coach and even the players," the red-and-white coach stressed, adding that with these changes "you don't know whether it is one step backward before taking two steps forward" in an issue that only "time" will answer.
VORACKOVA'S POSSIBLE DEPARTURE
Asked about a possible departure by Vorackova to the new competition, Cantero did not want to comment: "Until there is official confirmation, I don't want to get involved in Project B or in particular players who decide to join that type of competition. Mariona's departure was made official, but I don't know what to tell you about Vorackova, because the player herself has not even mentioned it to me. So I prefer to respond to these matters when the news becomes official."
