At its presentation at Zaragoza City Hall, the importance of the event within the Aragonese community was emphasized, with organizers highlighting that 6,000 runners took part last year. This Sunday, the Aragonese capital will celebrate its own festival of sport with the 10K and 5K races, which continue to pursue their ambition of promoting athletics among Zaragoza residents.

As one of this year’s main new features, the organizers, together with Special Olympics and Aspace, will hold a special start to promote greater inclusion in sport, applauding people with disabilities before the rest of the runners begin the race. In addition, the event is seeking to break its records, with Aragonese athletes Eduardo Menacho in the men’s category and Isabel Linares in the women’s category the leading candidates to set new marks.

COURSE, RACE NUMBERS AND ENTERTAINMENT

The 10K follows a flat course starting on Paseo Echegaray y Caballero and passing through the historic center before finishing in Plaza del Pilar. The 5K course is almost identical, except that part of it runs through the Helios Swimming Center. The 5K will start at 8:50 a.m., while the 10K will begin at 9:30 a.m. Participation in the main race is open to those aged 16 and over, while the shorter event is open to runners aged 14 and over.

The total allocation of 7,000 race numbers is divided between 5,500 for the 10K and 1,500 for the 5K. Registration will remain open until Thursday, October 22, at 11:59 p.m. Entry fees for the main race range from €18.50 to €23.50, while the shorter race costs €16. Registration will not be available during race-number collection or on race day. Race numbers can be collected at the Helios Swimming Center, at 1 Avenida José Atarés, on the 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and on the 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.

The race will feature musical entertainment points with rock bands, a DJ, batucada groups, the Municipal School of Music and Dance orchestra, and Marabiyak Sound. There will also be photo booths at the Race Expo and the finish line.

Runner services will include a T-shirt and a medal, the latter awarded only to those who complete the race. Pacemakers will also set different paces, while refreshment stations, physiotherapy services at Plaza de la Monja, and showers at the Tenerías sports center will be available.
