Albert Rudé ahead of Alcorcón debut: "I want to see a new competitive face and go all out"

Albert Rudé is just hours away from making his official debut as S.D. Huesca coach in a difficult visit to Santo Domingo to face Alcorcón this Friday at 9:15 p.m. The Girona-born coach wants his players to be competitive above all, while also showing a clear playing identity on the pitch.
Albert Rudé ahead of Alcorcón debut: "I want to see a new competitive face and go all out"

"We will see how much of our playing style we have been able to integrate during this time, and the most important thing for me is to see a team that comes out to compete strongly and try to take all three points. It is very difficult to create an impact in terms of our style of play, but competitiveness is a matter of mentality and going out there giving everything," he said. Focusing on the mental aspect, Rudé added that he has concentrated on "a change in terms of confidence, and I like my teams to be competitive and maintain that throughout the game. If we do not have that, it is impossible to compete in this division."

Asked about Huesca's lapses in concentration that have led to goals, the coach said that "all changes take time, and we will try to shorten that process. I trust that we can show a different side in terms of commitment in that mental aspect, because it is non-negotiable for me."

ALCORCÓN AND QUESTIONS OVER THE STARTING XI

Alcorcón have emerged as one of the division's teams to beat, and Rudé has focused much of his work on being able to contain their transitions. "They are a very complete team that tries to dominate with the ball, and we have already seen the level of performance they have at home. Their most dangerous aspect is their transitions, and we have seen where we can be strong and what we need to be particularly careful about," he explained.

Regarding his possible approach, he said that "defensive solidity is very important, especially against a team like Alcorcón, because if we are disciplined and set up with an attacking approach, we could get a nasty surprise." However, he added that "we cannot be reactive because that is not the style I like."

Rudé also wanted to make clear that "all players are starting from zero and have to earn their place in training and through hard work." He did say, however, that "I am not a coach who sticks to one fixed starting XI" and that there will be constant changes depending on the team's needs.
