A Comfortable Return to Winning Ways

S.D. Huesca returned to winning ways four weeks later, doing so comfortably. Two goals from Luismi, both preceded by opposition errors, and another from Herrera secured all three points against a very weak Europa side. Gori pulled one back in stoppage time. Jardiel’s team won 3-1 to claim their second victory of the season and restore some calm at El Alcoraz.
A Comfortable Return to Winning Ways

S.D. Huesca started better than their opponents. Europa, weak in every area of the pitch, found themselves overwhelmed. After just two minutes, Diego Gómez missed a clear chance, needing only to tap the ball in to open the scoring. There was little to report from the Catalans. Only a poor clearance by Gazzaniga gave them some opportunities. Other than that, nothing.

The deadlock would not last much longer. Luismi Redondo produced a moment more typical of regional football than the professional game, dispossessing Nil, Europa’s goalkeeper, in the 29th minute and finishing into an empty net to make it 1-0. S.D. Huesca had their first goal.

The second goal also arrived before half-time. Again it came from Luismi and followed a mistake by the visiting goalkeeper. This time, he failed to deal with a free kick taken by Sielva in the final minute of the first half, leaving the Huesca player with the simple task of sending the ball into the net. Thus, thanks to two clinical moments, Huesca went into the break 2-0 up.

SECOND HALF

The second half began with a scare, as Europa had a goal from Khalid ruled out for offside. It was the 52nd minute. Even so, the feeling was that the Huesca side were in control of the match.

Indeed, the third goal was closer than a response from a largely uncompetitive Europa. From that point on, Jardiel’s team allowed the minutes to pass, the game to peter out and victory to draw closer. The third goal of the afternoon did arrive at El Alcoraz. After a good run, Douglas laid the ball off to Herrera, who made it 3-0 on the stroke of 90'.

It was not ultimately the final word in Alto Aragón, as Gori pulled one back from the penalty spot for his team in the 92nd minute. It was a worrying moment, because Salva Ruiz received a second yellow card for conceding the penalty and was sent off. But that was where the match ended.

It was a good result for the Huesca side, who rediscovered the sweet taste of victory. Their second of the season. The win was urgent, and Huesca survived their first match point. However, they must continue along this path if they are to achieve their objective of finishing among the best teams in the division.
