The tours are part of a week of activities through which the provincial institution aims to bring these spaces closer to the public and highlight their bibliographic heritage. The program will run from Monday, October 26, to Friday, October 30, and will also include theatrical readings, literary gatherings and events dedicated to writers.
The initiative is being held under the slogan "There Are No Libraries Without Professionals," which this year highlights the work of those who make these spaces function. Through the program, the Provincial Council wants to show that libraries are not merely places where books are preserved, but also meeting points for learning, participation and cultural exchange.
WHEN ARE THE THEATRICAL TOURS OF ZARAGOZA’S LIBRARIES?
The tours will offer the chance to explore the libraries of the Provincial Council of Zaragoza and the Sástago Historical Library, discovering their history and collections through an experience different from a conventional visit. The first opportunity will be on Tuesday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m., while a second session will take place on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:00 p.m.
The third and final theatrical tour will be held on Friday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m. Visitors will therefore be able to choose between two morning sessions and one afternoon session to explore some of the provincial institution’s bibliographic spaces.
However, places are limited to a maximum of 30 people per tour, and advance registration is required. To reserve a place, interested participants should call 976 288 800, extension 8392.
THEATER, GLORIA FUERTES AND MEETINGS WITH AUTHORS
Beyond the theatrical tours, the program will begin on Monday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m., with a theatrical reading of The Lover by Harold Pinter, held in the former assembly hall of the Provincial Council of Zaragoza. Admission will be free until capacity is reached.
On Tuesday, October 27, at 6:00 p.m., the research room at the Ildefonso Manuel Gil Library will host "This Is Not a Book, It’s a Woman," an event dedicated to the life and work of Gloria Fuertes. Admission will also be free until all available places are filled.
The week will continue on Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m., with "Human Library," a gathering in the former assembly hall featuring Severino Pallaruelo, Carmelo Marcén and Concha Breto. Through conversation and the exchange of experiences, attendees will be able to engage with a range of personal stories. Admission will be free until capacity is reached.
