The Zaragoza Artist Exhibiting His Work in Madrid: “What You Want Is to Cross Borders”

Zaragoza is home to countless artists waiting to be discovered. Some go more unnoticed than others, but their talent always eventually comes to light. Such is the case of Sergio Muro, a well-known name on Zaragoza’s art scene who is now moving beyond the Aragonese capital to bring his work to Madrid. An artist, cultural manager and writer, Muro continues to expand his horizons with a new solo exhibition.

Part of his work can be viewed in Madrid until next Sunday, November 8, at 17 San Mateo Street. “For me, presenting a solo exhibition at Galería Nueva, one of Madrid’s leading galleries, is a major achievement,” the artist told ARAGÓN DIGITAL.

THE SHARED EUPHORIA EXHIBITION

The exhibition, titled “Shared Euphoria,” follows on from his previous show in Zaragoza, “Hedonistic Existence.” Through his work, the artist seeks to champion the pleasure of enjoying small everyday moments: reading a book, walking the dog, running in nature, listening to music or having a coffee. Simple moments that often go unnoticed but conceal the essence of happiness.

The reception to the exhibition has been especially gratifying for Muro. “Seeing so many visitors congratulate me on my work, on how it affects them, and want to acquire pieces of mine is a great satisfaction,” the artist says.

In addition, exhibiting in Madrid represents an opportunity to introduce his work to a broader and more international audience. “Ultimately, what you want is to cross the borders of where you are based, and Madrid is the capital; there is a great deal of collecting, and among the people passing in front of the gallery, Mexicans, Brazilians and others come in…,” Muro explains, highlighting the opportunities the Spanish capital offers for continuing to grow in the art world.
