Starring Amparo Rivelles, Adriano Rimoldi and Fernando Nogueras, "Angustia" follows Elena and Marcos, a couple with limited means who live in a boarding house, where their relationship with Mrs. Jarque, the elderly owner, becomes increasingly oppressive. The film will be screened in DCP, in black and white, and has a runtime of 88 minutes.
The screening will take place on Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the Zaragoza Filmoteca, and admission will be completely free. Before the screening, Patricia Uceda, head of Outreach, Exhibition and Archives at the Zaragoza Filmoteca, will introduce the film and explain its restoration process.
ZARAGOZA FILMOTECA JOINS PORDENONE’S INTERNATIONAL RETROSPECTIVE
The celebration of Spanish Cinema Day also coincides with the Zaragoza Filmoteca’s participation in a joint project by Spanish film libraries and archives that will bring, for the first time, to Le Giornate del Cinema Muto in Pordenone—one of the leading international festivals dedicated to silent cinema—a monographic retrospective on the origins of cinema in Spain between 1896 and 1916.
The program runs from October 5 to 8 and covers the first 20 years of cinema in Spain across four screenings, from the footage initially filmed by foreign operators to the gradual emergence of domestic film production. The initiative is the result of collaboration between film libraries, archives and institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting cinematic heritage.
