Pilar Festivities to Get Mobile Coverage Upgrades in Zaragoza

The 2026 Pilar Festivities will bring thousands of people to Zaragoza for ten days of concerts, activities and mass celebrations. The event will also test mobile phone networks, especially in areas with the largest crowds. To meet the increased demand, Telefónica has strengthened its 4G and 5G coverage at various locations across the city, aiming to guarantee connectivity during the festivities, which run from October 9 to 18.

Guillermo Pascual, Telefónica’s regional director in Aragón, said: “Telefónica is working to be the best way for citizens to access digital technologies, a commitment that takes on special importance during the Pilar Festivities, the main gathering of the people of Aragón and one of the country’s most appealing celebrations, where we want to guarantee reliable and secure connectivity.”

MORE 5G COVERAGE

Telefónica’s reinforcement combines two types of action: advanced configuration of the existing network and the installation of mobile units equipped with high-performance 5G, with the aim of guaranteeing connectivity and the best user experience at the busiest events. These portable systems act as a strategic network reinforcement, temporarily multiplying data transmission capacity and speed in high-demand areas at a specific time of year.

WHERE COVERAGE WILL BE IMPROVED

Specifically, Telefónica has installed two mobile units equipped with high-performance 5G in Valdespartera, the Zaragoza neighborhood that hosts the fairgrounds, and outside Espacio Zity. In addition, inside the venue, where concerts by artists such as Myke Towers, Viva Suecia, Ana Mena and Love of Lesbian will be held, the company has installed two dedicated stations at the stages to optimize Movistar service for the audience.

THE CITY CENTER WILL EXPAND ITS COVERAGE

Plaza del Pilar, the epicenter of the festivities and the site of the opening speech and the Offering of Flowers, as well as the main setting for the free concerts, will also benefit from Telefónica’s reinforcement, with antennas installed at the stage to strengthen the mobile coverage available to the public.

As a new development this year, Telefónica has also provided the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion with indoor 4G/5G coverage, which will remain permanently installed. This infrastructure will ensure connectivity during the mass events held at the venue, including the next two concerts by La Oreja de Van Gogh, with nearly 9,000 spectators per night, as well as performances by Sergio Dalma and Camela.
