Fuentes Film Festival Marks Three Decades with a Tribute to Paco Rabal

Calderón de la Barca wrote that “dreams are only dreams.” In Fuentes de Ebro, they had a truly ambitious one: to create a film festival of national relevance in a municipality of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. Through sweat, hard work and people determined to turn the seemingly impossible into reality, the town in Zaragoza province has made that dream last three decades. The Fuentes Film Festival will once again fill the town with Spanish cinema, documentaries, short films and discussions.

Organizers say the festival’s 30th edition will leave no one indifferent. From October 30 to November 7, Fuentes de Ebro will roll out its red carpet for major figures from the big screen and pay tribute to María Luisa San José and Nacho García Velilla. In addition, a program of around 40 activities will bring together more than 6,000 spectators during an unforgettable week for film lovers.

For three decades, the Fuentes Film Festival has been a meeting place for thousands of people eager to be moved. And in 2026, audiences will remember another prominent figure in the history of Spanish cinema. The centenary of Paco Rabal’s birth will play a major role in the festival program, with discussions, documentaries and screenings focused on the actor from Murcia.
