Transport Ministry tenders €6.78 million upgrade to safety barriers on Huesca roads

The works will affect 245.17 kilometres of the State Road Network in Huesca. Of this total, 47.75 kilometres correspond to the A-2 and A-23 motorways, with carriageways separated by a median, while the remainder is located on conventional single-carriageway roads.

The project has a twofold objective. First, new barriers will be installed at points identified by road safety analysis. Second, both the existing barriers and the median crossings on the A-23 will be brought into line with current regulations. In addition, protection systems will be installed at drainage ditch crossings where they are not yet available.

This project is part of the conservation and maintenance programme for the State Road Network, under which the Ministry of Transport has invested €243 million in Huesca province since June 2018. According to the Ministry, the programme is helping to improve the quality of service provided by the existing state road infrastructure.
