The provincial institution is thus launching line 2 of the Extraordinary Provincial Development Plan, funded with €4,024,361 for the improvement and upgrading of municipal roads. The aim is to facilitate access to agricultural, livestock and forestry holdings and strengthen connectivity in rural areas.
AN EXTRA MILLION WITH NEW ALLOCATION CRITERIA
Huesca Provincial Council President Isaac Claver highlighted that the increase reflects the results achieved in the previous call for applications and the needs of the primary sector. “We are increasing investment by 32%, to more than four million euros, and improving the allocation criteria so that resources reach municipalities with the greatest agricultural and livestock activity in particular,” he said.
The 2026 Rural Roads Plan will maintain the amounts allocated to each municipality in 2025 and add an additional one million euros. Of that amount, €330,000 will be distributed according to the number of livestock holdings, another €330,000 based on the total area of each municipal district, and €340,000 according to arable land.
ALL MUNICIPALITIES WILL RECEIVE MORE FUNDING
With this funding, town and city councils will be able to access the program when the subsidy is less than €50,000 and carry out up to two projects when it exceeds that amount. The budget increase will also enable all municipalities in the province to improve on the allocation they received last year.
Among the examples provided by the Provincial Council, La Sotonera will go from €18,043 in 2025 to €31,073 in 2026; Sariñena, from €26,500 to €51,338; and Belver de Cinca, from €16,363 to €29,528. The institution presents the program as a tool to improve working conditions in the primary sector and help maintain economic activity in the towns of Alto Aragón.
