Huesca Provincial Council adds 24 new firefighters: how they are distributed across seven stations

Huesca province has had 24 new firefighters since Thursday, after they became career civil servants by passing competitive exams taken by 703 applicants and completing four months of intensive training and practical work. The recruits have taken up their posts at the Huesca Provincial Council, completing a selection process that began just over a year ago and included specialized training and work at fire stations during the summer.

The new professionals completed an initial training phase at the Aragonese Firefighting Academy between June 8 and July 9. Over five weeks, they received theoretical and practical training in tackling wildfires and building fires, high-angle and water rescues, traffic accidents, searches for missing people and first aid, among other emergency situations.

Next, the 24 firefighters joined the regular shifts at the provincial fire stations to carry out supervised practical training during the summer months. This second phase allowed them to become familiar with the vehicles, intervention equipment and specific procedures used by the Upper Aragon fire and rescue service.

The recruits have taken up their posts following a selection process that began just over a year ago.

HOW HUESCA’S 24 NEW FIREFIGHTERS ARE DISTRIBUTED

Most of the new recruits are being assigned to Villanova, which is receiving eight firefighters. The stations in Boltaña, Monzón, Sariñena and Fraga are each adding three personnel, while Barbastro and Sabiñánigo are each taking on two new professionals. In total, the 24 firefighters are being distributed among seven facilities across the province.

With these additions, the Huesca Provincial Council’s Provincial Fire and Rescue Service has a staff of 176 personnel deployed across the Upper Aragon region. The recruits’ appointment marks the culmination of a selection, training and practical-placement process designed to prepare them to respond to fires, accidents, rescues and other emergencies.
