How to Sell to the United Nations from Aragon: CEOE Organizes a Workshop for Businesses

Businesses in Aragon can find new clients in international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank. These entities purchase products and hire services and construction work through competitive tenders, which companies from different countries can enter. This market is worth more than $90 billion a year, but relatively few companies in Aragon are taking advantage of these opportunities.

To explain how to access these contracts, CEOE Aragon will organize two specialized workshops in October. The business confederation already helps companies participate in these tenders through the International Tendering Plan (PLI), backed by the Government of Aragon. Since its launch, the program has helped Aragonese companies secure contracts worth nearly 50 million euros.

Spain’s presence in procurement by multilateral organizations remains limited. Spain, for example, ranks 44th among United Nations supplier countries, with contract volume accounting for just 0.56% of the total.

A MARKET FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESSES IN ARAGON

There is therefore significant room for growth for Spanish and Aragonese companies. “They represent a real opportunity for many companies of any size, with highly competitive expertise, products and services. Taking advantage of these markets means advancing internationalization, diversifying risks and strengthening business growth,” says Jorge Alonso, director of the International Department at CEOE Aragon.

Indeed, the transparency, legal certainty and financial soundness of tenders linked to multilateral organizations are some of their main attractions amid uncertainty in various countries. In addition, these contracts facilitate access to large-scale projects, enable companies to enter new markets and help consolidate export activity. Aragon’s growing international profile as an industrial and technology hub is also particularly favorable for companies in the region seeking to take another step into this market.

TWO OCTOBER WORKSHOPS ON HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Data from the International Tendering Plan show that Aragonese companies mainly submit bids for tenders in European Union countries, although they also participate in those in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Lack of information, procedural complexity, language barriers and the tight deadlines of some calls for tenders are among the main obstacles for many companies.

To bring these opportunities closer to Aragon’s business community and explain how to access them, CEOE Aragon will hold the workshops “How to Sell to the United Nations” on October 23 and “Accessing the Multilateral Market” on October 30. Both sessions will take a practical approach and address the business opportunities offered by international financial institutions and multilateral organizations, as well as the steps companies must follow to participate in their tenders.
