The event provided an opportunity to learn about the potential of fuel-cell technology for mobility and address the infrastructure needs for its development. Attendees were also able to enjoy a dynamic test drive of the Toyota Mirai.
In his remarks, Biendicho highlighted Aragon's potential for producing and distributing renewable hydrogen, thanks to its renewable energy generation capacity, industrial base and the characteristics of its extensive and diverse territory.
ADVANCING THROUGH TECHNOLOGICAL NEUTRALITY AND FREEDOM OF CHOICE
The Minister for the Environment and Tourism also defended the need to move forward through technological neutrality and freedom of choice, with different solutions adapted to the needs of citizens, businesses and territories, without imposing requirements that could hinder innovation. In this regard, he said that hydrogen "is not a distant hypothesis" and represents an opportunity for Aragon to generate economic activity and employment in the region.
The event also addressed one of the main challenges facing the development of this technology: establishing a sufficient hydrogen supply and distribution network. Biendicho stressed the importance of cooperation between public authorities and businesses to make progress in this area, particularly at a time when diesel prices are "strangling" professionals and private individuals.
Representatives of the Aragon Government's Department of the Environment and Tourism took part in the meeting, including Director General of Environmental Quality José Montoya and the director of the Teruel Provincial Service, Emilio Pérez. Representatives of Toyota Spain, Grupo Zoilo Ríos, ARPA, the Hydrogen Foundation, CaetanoBus and Zaragoza City Council also attended.
