The event, organized by Aragon's logistics cluster ALIA, was attended by regional President Jorge Azcón and used sport and the Olympic Games as its central theme. During the evening, Novaltia, BonÀrea, the Tecnalia Chair at the University of Zaragoza, the Aragon Institute of Technology (ITA) and former ALIA president Eduardo Corella also received awards.
AWARDS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRAINING
Aragon Logistics Platform was honored in the Transport and Intermodality category for its work to improve infrastructure and connections between different modes of freight transport. The award coincided with the 25th anniversary of Zaragoza's logistics platform, PLAZA, and the start of construction on the new access road via Puente Turiaso, which will connect the existing facilities with their expansion on the other side of the highway.
Meanwhile, Zaragoza Logistics Center received the Logistics award for its work in training, research and innovation. According to figures released by the Government of Aragon, the center had trained nearly 5,450 students from 90 nationalities to date, with an employability rate of 90%. The recognition also highlighted its relationship with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and its contribution to raising Aragon's international profile.
The remaining awards recognized various contributions to the sector. The Tecnalia Chair was honored in the Mobility category for its collaboration in developing new solutions; ITA, in Innovation, for bringing technological knowledge closer to businesses; and Novaltia, in Sustainability, for designing and building its new logistics center in Zaragoza. BonÀrea received the Business Career award for its presence and commitment in Aragon.
LEADERSHIP CHANGE AT ALIA AND THE CHALLENGE OF FINDING WORKERS
One of the night's most emotional moments was the tribute to Eduardo Corella, who was recognized for his professional career and his work leading ALIA. The ceremony marked his succession by Alfredo Caballero, the new president of the business association, who identified the labor shortage as one of the sector's challenges and argued for the need to continue creating opportunities for its members.
Doctor and former basketball player Juan Antonio Corbalán provided the day's sporting perspective with an address on leadership, teamwork and talent management. Hosted by Rafa Maza and Silvia Solans, the gala combined these messages with humor and artificial intelligence recreations to address the challenges facing Aragon's logistics sector.
